Oxford University Press (China) Brings Curriculum-Grounded AI Support to Hong Kong Educators with PowerGen and Avallain’s TeacherMatic
Hong Kong, September 2026 — Oxford University Press (China) (OUPC) has launched AI Power Tools PowerGen, a new AI-enabled teaching platform designed specifically for educators in Hong Kong, enabling them to create curriculum-aligned resources grounded in trusted OUPC textbook content.
Launched in August 2026 and powered by TeacherMatic, Avallain’s AI toolkit for educators, PowerGen extends OUPC’s educational offering with generative AI tailored to the realities of teaching in Hong Kong. The platform is now ready to support primary-level educators and is available in both English and Traditional Chinese. Support will be gradually extended to secondary-level educators.
Rather than relying solely on generic AI-generated content, PowerGen combines OUPC’s educational content with TeacherMatic’s AI generators, allowing educators to create pedagogically sound resources. This connects AI-assisted lesson preparation, assessment and classroom activities more closely with the courses educators are already using.
Turning Trusted Curriculum Content into Tailored Teaching Resources
Through PowerGen’s Cartridge functionality, educators can select relevant OUPC textbook content to provide context for content generation. Educators can then create materials that relate directly to the curriculum and course content they are teaching, rather than beginning with a generic prompt or an AI response disconnected from their programme.
This approach reflects OUPC’s broader objective for the platform: to make AI human-centred and useful within established classroom practice.
Educators can use PowerGen to generate lesson plans, worksheets, exam questions and presentation materials. The platform lets educators create and adapt resources for different learner levels and classroom needs, while keeping outputs connected to trusted OUPC content.
Saving Preparation Time While Giving Educators Greater Flexibility
For educators, one of PowerGen’s most immediate benefits is reducing time spent on repetitive preparation tasks.
Lesson planning, worksheet creation, presentation development and assessment design can require considerable preparation outside classroom hours. With TeacherMatic’s AI generators integrated into PowerGen, educators can create a first version of these resources within minutes and then review, refine and adapt them for their own classes.

Localisation has been a key consideration for OUPC in the development of PowerGen from the outset.
With plans to further expand its support to teachers in secondary schools, the platform has been developed for educators working in primary education, alongside both English and Traditional Chinese interfaces. Its generators are also configured for the Hong Kong education system, including local curriculum specifications and relevant assessment criteria.
